4. The web site "Ukiyo-e, The Pictures of the Floating World" is a very helpful source created to inform interested people about Ukiyo-e art and artists. Although this web site could be useful to someone who is new to the "Floating World" it is much more successful as a search engine for people who know what information they are looking for. The introduction that can be found on the home page is brief; it seemingly appears just to have something on the first page. The creator of this web site, Hans Olof Johansson, does do an excellent job providing a site for the more knowledgeable web surfer. Johansson's question and answer section offers the possibility of having any subject explored. The web site also offers visual access to hundreds of prints. "A guide to the Ukiyo-e Sites of the Internet" is a very helpful section of this web site; it lists sites from pages similar to Johansson's as well as sites dedicated to specific artists to auction sites where one could by ukiyo-e prints. The page does not include personal information about Johansson, but my best assumption is that he is a collector of Ukiyo-e art.

I found Johansson's web site to be very useful and easy to maneuver through. All the pages were aesthetically pleasing, especially the ones that featured Hokusai's "The Great Wave" as their background wallpaper. The one feature that I thought was somewhat questionable was the question and answer site. Although I believe this section has the potential to be very helpful I thought that it should have some sort of disclaimer. Questions can be answered by anyone and this could lead to people being misinformed. For the most part I think that Johansson's site is excellent, it serves as a great place for someone to start exploring what the web has to offer on The Floating World.
